In MessageStats 6.5 remote installation of the database component has been enabled to allow deployment in environments where physical access to the database server is restricted. Due to the structure of the installer, the prerequisite for a local SQL server still exits during installation.
If you are attempting to deploy the database remotely, there are two options,
1) Install a local copy of SQL server on their MessageStats server. Once the database component has been deployed the local SQL server can be removed.
2) Install the database component, using a "Custom" installation, from another server that already has SQL server present
