Failed to gather mailbox/public folder data; Logon Error; 0x80072030 There is no such object... (4340720)

When MessageStats tried to log on to the System Mailbox to gather Mailbox and Public Folder data, the logon failed with the error;

Logon Error; 0x80072030 There is no such object on the server.

When MessageStats gathers Mailbox/Public Folder information, it uses the System Mailbox to log on. The System Mailbox resides in the Exchange System Object Container under the root of Active Directory Users and Computers. The Exchange System Object Container was moved from the Root AD to an OU below the root under Active Directory Users and Groups. When moved back to the Root AD, MessageStats was successful in logging on and gathering Mailbox and Public Folders data.
