Title
Authentication error when accessing web reports remotely. Error: "401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials." -
Description
When trying to access the Web Reports remotely you receive the following error.
"401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials."
"You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied." -
Cause
Identity setting within IIS Application Pools causing the "Access is denied due to invalid credentials" error when accessing Reports Site remotly.

Resolution
1. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
2. Expand you Server and click Application Pools, in the details pane right click Quest Web Reports, or Dell Web Reports (in 7.3 or later only) and select Advanced.
3. Under Process Model | Identity change to Network Service.
4. Go to Start | run and type in iisreset and click OK
5. Disable User Account Control (UAC) and then reboot the MessageStats server.
Note: In MessageStats 7.3 or later, make sure you are editing the Dell Web Reports application pool in IIS and not Quest Web Reports.
