Errors in the Maintenance Plan:

Getting Source: Notify Operator 1 Description: There were errors during task validation. End Error DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1) at the end of the LiteSpeed backup log.

Changes to Maintenance Plan are not saved.

WORKAROUND:

1) Verify that Database Mail is enabled for the instance (SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration | For Features: Database Mail). The selected operator should refer to the default Database Mail profile to check if it is so. This can be done by running select * from sysmail_principalprofile , it should contain the profile that is used for selected database mail account.

2) Run the following in Query Analyzer/Management Studio Query Analyzer:

EXECUTE msdb.dbo.sp_notify_operator @name=N'<operator_name>',@body=N'hello!'

If it works as a script, then please make sure that the operator is selected in the Notify Operator task.

STATUS: Fixed in Version 5.1 of LiteSpeed
