Description
When setting up LiteSpeed Log Shipping with Native Command Substitution (NCS) the following error is encountered:
The following message is not a LiteSpeed 2005 message. Please refer to SQL Server books online or Microsoft technical support for a solution:
RESTORE LOG is terminating abnormally.
Exclusive access could not be obtained because the database is in use. -
Resolution
This is a LiteSpeed limitation. Native Command Substitution (NCS) is properly converting native commands, but when LiteSpeed processes them, LiteSpeed is unable to connect to the database and the command/process fails.
The Terminate Users option MUST be unchecked to use LiteSpeed.
Attached is a document detailing steps to set up Log Shipping with NCS. It also contains a script to kill users, using the Terminate User option.
