TSM BACKUP - Error "LiteSpeed for SQL Server could not open backup file" -
Description
When using TSM, the following error may display:
19:11:02.157 4500 Main SLSMain::StartOperation XML return:

Copyright 2010 Quest Software, Inc.</INFO>
<ERROR error="10405">LiteSpeed for SQL Server could not open backup file: (QUESTSERVER\Foldername\Databasename_Diff).
The previous system message is the reason for the failure. -
Cause
Microsoft Defect
Litespeed calls the TSM client API which in turn calls into the Rasman.dll. As noted in the KB which address this bug in Rasman (Microsoft KB953675).“The Rasman.dll module incorrectly frees an invalid remote procedure call (RPC) binding handle. This occurs because of incorrect error handling in the RasRPCBind function.“ -
Resolution
Microsoft has a hot fix for this (Hotfix KB953675). This hot fix address the issue with performing TSM tasks.Please note the Hotfix must be applied to each server with this issue. A reboot will be required. -
