Please ensure that you are downloading LiteSpeed 8.0.3 or higher.
Preparation for the actual upgrade:
1. Getting the LiteSpeed 8.x zip file.
a. LiteSpeed Version 8.x and above are available for download at
https://support.quest.com/download-product-select after logging in with your registered Quest user account. The zipped file will include the msi files which are specific to 32-bit, 64-bit and 64-bit Itanium, the correct version will be the same as the bit version of your SQL Server and processor version.
b. Release Notes, Installation Guide and Compiled HTML Help Files (.CHM) are also included in the zipped file package.
c. Refer to the Installation Guide which includes upgrade steps.
2. Your current license for LiteSpeed 6.x or 7.x will be compatible with the LiteSpeed 8.x version.
3. Performing the upgrade:
a. Before installing a new version of LiteSpeed, disable any LiteSpeed jobs (including Log Shipping jobs) that are scheduled to run at the time of upgrade on all servers where you plan to upgrade LiteSpeed.
The Publishers need to be on the same version of LiteSpeed as the Subscribers, so the upgrades should be performed at the same time.
b. Run the installer, follow through the installer wizard to upgrade.
An uninstall or reboot of the server is not required. Occasionally, a maintenance plan will need to be resaved under the new version. The configuration will be moved automatically. to the new version.
