automated restore not recognizing backup files. Manual restore does see and restore those same files -
Description
We can use LiteSpeed console Restore Wizard to manually restore a database full backup file and tlog files. However, when we use the Restore Wizard to do an 'Automated restore' on those same files in that same directory, LiteSpeed does not recognize the backup files. LiteSpeed is not finding the backup files on the filesystem.We turned on LiteSpeed engine logging and went through the automated restore attempt again. We see the below error:11:33:02.548 13288 Main MESSAGES::ErrorMessage Error: -2147467259, Msg: Specified backup files are not found -
Cause
For an automated restore, on the 'Source' screen of the Backup Wizard, where it says the 'Restore From' server name and database name given must exactly match that from which the backup was generated. If not, then the automated restore will not restore anything. -
Resolution
Run the below query from the SSMS:EXEC master.dbo.xp_restore_headeronly @filename=N'E:\Backups\Full_201905210000.bakAnd note the result of the 'DatabaseName' field and the 'ServerName' field.In the Restore Wizard, on the 'Backup Source' screen, add the server name and database name from by selecting the “Add to Source” button.
