Slssqlmaint.exe errors appear when running Instance Configuration - Unable to run backups as a re
Description

After adding a new instance to a node, when running Instance Configuration, the following errors appear:
'Cannot create file "D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.VCF\Binn\slssqlmaint.exe". The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.'

A subsequent error is:

'There was an error encountered while attempting to install the extended stored procedures.
The Litespeed program has been installed to disk. You may still need to install Litespeed's custom extended stored procedures into your SQL Server environment. To do so, run the Litespeed Instance Configuration utility.
Find it under Start | All Programs | Quest Software | Litespeed for SQL Server | Instance Configuration'

As a result, the Litespeed backups are failing.
Resolution

1. Go to your SQL Server directory, e.g: D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.VCF\MSSQL\Binn\slssqlmaint.exe
2. Rename this file to: slssqlmaint.exe.old
3. In the same directory, if you have the file 'xpSLS.dll', rename this to: xpSLS.dll.old
4. Now run Instance Configuration again.
5. Verify the backups work.
