Backup creates two folders and writes to incorrect folder
Description

The backup process (via Backup Template or Maintenance Plan) creates the correctly named subfolder and a system named folder WOEETL~6. The backup file gets written to the systme named folder and nothing is written to the correct subfolder.
Cause

The database being backed up has a space at the end of the database name.
Resolution

WORKAROUND:
Fix the database name (removing the space at the trailing character on the name) in SSMS.
