Error: "Exception: System.InvalidOperationException Message: Cross thread operation detected" Edi (4220552)

Error during Edit Repository Registration |  clicking Test Connection on a selected repository from the list generates Exception: System.InvalidOperationException Message: Cross thread operation detected.   A Support Bundle may be generated with  the same exception

Steps to Reproduce:
1.   install 5.1.0.x
2.   after installation, ensure that a Central Repository connection is set in Edit Repository Connection (add repository if it's not present)
3. On the LS status bar's Central Repository selection drop-down, select "Select Repository"
4.   highlight the repository and click Test Connection
5.   note exception from UI as well as Application Event Viewer
