Database stuck in restoring state -
Description
- Database in SIMPLE recovery mode
- Restoring process completes with log event:
Main SLS::postOpMSDBUpdate Could not retrieve msdb media set ids after waiting 5000 mseconds - Database remains in restoring state
- Attempting RESTORE DATABASE <DBNAME> WITH RECOVERY results in:
Msg 4333, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The database cannot be recovered because the log was not restored.
Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

Cause
LiteSpeed has a hard-coded timeout set to 5 seconds for completing specific commands in the MSDB database. We are going to increase the timeout to 50 sec. This is being tracked as LS-2029.
Usually, it takes 1 second to complete any of those queries. However, if the server has a high load related to the MSDB database, or if MSDB is locked at the server level it may take more time.
