When you use the New Source Wizard to register an Exchange Server 5.5 backup created by using CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup 11.0, 11.1. or 11.5, you must specify organization name and site name for that backup. In some cases, you may not know these names.
N/A
You can retrieve organization and site names from the Exchange Server 5.5 backup, as follows:
1. In Recovery Manager, start the New Source Wizard and proceed with its steps.
2. On the Source Database Option page, click "Access backup media using third-party software". From the list select "Computer Associates BrightStor ARCserve Backup 9.0, 11.0, 11.1", and then click Next.
3. On the Exchange Server Restore Emulation page, specify any organization and site names. Proceed with the other steps of the wizard.
4. After the wizard starts Exchange emulation, use CA BrightStor ARCserve Manager to restore the Exchange Server 5.5 backup to the computer where Recovery Manager is installed.
The restore fails and the Job Log tab of the CA BrightStor ARCserve Manager displays error messages that are similar to the following:
"Failed to write database. Invalid target server for restoring. Check Backup Agent Activity Log."
"Failed to receive data from the database agent."
5. On the computer where Recovery Manager and CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup Agent for Microsoft Exchange are installed, open the dbaexch.log file located in the ARCserve Backup Agent installation folder.
6. In the recent log records, look for the line that is similar to the following:
"<mm/dd/yy> hh:mm> Invalid restore target. Source server is [\\<Server_Name>\<Disk>]. Source site is [<Site_Name>]. Source organization is [<Organization_Name>]."
In that line <Site_Name> is the site name you must specify for the Exchange Server 5.5 backup, and <Organization_Name> is the organization name you must specify for the Exchange Server 5.5 backup.
NOTE: When you use CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup 11.5, after you complete the above procedure, the Backup Agent may fail to create log records containing the organization and site names. If this is the case, repeat the procedure.
Solution only applies to CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup 11.0, 11.1, or 11.5.
Solution applies to Recovery Manager for Exchange 3.0, 3.1, or 3.1.1.
