Install this hotfix if you experience performance degradation for your .NET applications (specifically for CPU usage) after enabling Foglight for Microsoft .NET. This hotfix addresses the following issues:

• Performance overhead improvements (CPU overhead) for instrumented .NET applications.

The previous releases included in this hotfix address the following issues:

Foglight™ for Microsoft .NET 5.9.7.8

• A new recording.config property can be edited to control how many requests are sampled on the Application Servers dashboard.
• Slow performance observed on the Monitor dashboard in a federated environment is improved.
• Response times reduced by improving concurrency in the .NET agent profiler.

Foglight™ Application Servers Nexus 5.9.7.6

• After restarting the Agent Manager that is hosting the Nexus, dashboard data is missing or the Nexus log contains an IllegalArgumentException.
• The Canonical Data Transformation (CDT) throws a NullPointerException in the FMS logs while it is processing an ExternalSystem node.

Compatibility of this Hotfix:

• Foglight Management Server version 5.6.7 and later.
• The Nexus requires Foglight Agent Manager version 5.6.7.2 or later. Version 5.6.7.3 or later is recommended.
• Upgrades are supported from ApplicationServers-DotNET-5_9_4.car or higher.

Foglight for Microsoft .NET must be deployed on a Foglight Management Server version 5.6.7 or later, and to a Foglight Agent Manager version 5.6.7.2 or later. For information about system requirements for this release, refer to the "Hardware Requirements and Guidelines" section in the Foglight System Requirements and Platform Support Guide.

To install this patch:

Install the ApplicationServers-DotNET-5_9_7_9.car file from here as you would a new cartridge. Do not disable or uninstall the previous version.

1. Navigate to the Administration > Cartridges > Cartridge Inventory dashboard to install the ApplicationServers-DotNET-5_9_7_9.car file.
2. Upgrade the .NET Agent Installations. 
   Note: After an Agent Installation has been upgraded, you must reset IIS before the agents will reconnect.
   • On the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click Application Servers > Administration > Application Servers Administration.
   • On the Application Servers Administration dashboard, click .NET Administration.
   • On the .NET Administration dashboard, click the Installations tab.
   • Click the name of the host of the .NET agent that you want to upgrade and, in the menu that opens, click Upgrade.
   • Confirm that you want to upgrade the agent package by clicking Upgrade in the message box.
     Note: Once confirmed, the upgrade process starts and the Agents disconnect. They reconnect after an IISReset has been completed in the next step.
   • A task is added to the Task History list at the bottom of the view. Check the Result column for information on the upgrade process and its status.

Nexus agent upgrade

• If your Nexus agents are running, they are upgraded automatically when you install the cartridge.
• If your Nexus agents are not running, you must upgrade them manually from the Application Servers Administration dashboard before allowing any agents to connect to the Nexus.
