How to increase migration performance with Migrator for Notes to Exchange (MNE) when using date filters and a multi-phase migration strategy.

In order to increase migration performance, the data being transferred out of Domino needs to be reduced. There are several options:

1.) When going through the MNE Migrate User Data wizard, on the Specify Date and Size Filters screen, you can specify a date range for the data to migrate. By default, MNE will use a Notes query to limit the amount of mail items sent to the MNE migration server based on the date filter. However, portions of Calendar items still need to be transferred to the MNE migration for further filtering based on the parameters in place.

2.) Create a Replica of the users Domino mail file that only includes the specified date range and items that need to be migrated and tell MNE to migrate from this new replica. 3.) Configure an additional parameter within the MNE configuration to query for a specific time range of data. This parameter uses a Notes query to only return the items specified in the query. This is the same query logic as creating a new View in the Notes Client and can be used to specify date ranges, forms, etc. This parameter can be found in the MNE Program Parameters Reference PDF file in the Documentation directory of the software download.

MailAndCalQueryFilter=

Specifies a migration filter for mail and calendar items, in the form of a Notes query to limit the data pulled from the migrating NSFs. The value must take the form of a Notes query, for example:

MailAndCalQueryFilter=SELECT $Revisions >= @Date(2014;09;01)

This example would limit the mail and calendar items extracted for migration to only those that have been modified since 09/01/2014. The default (null, or if the parameter is omitted) simply lets the migration proceed unfiltered for mail and calendar items. Another parameter in this [Notes] section, PabQueryFilter, permits migration filtering for address books, also by a Notes query.
