UEFI vs Legacy BIOS in Imaging -

Imaging UEFI Systems is different from imaging a Legacy BIOS System Imaging. -
Cause
With the move toward UEFI enabled BIOS on many systems, a change must be made with regard to how images are captured and deployed with the K2000. UEFI is a replacement for the older BIOS firmware interface and the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) 1.10 specifications. The two options have very different needs with regard to the boot record and because of this require a different partition structure. A System Image captured from a legacy BIOS OS with a single or multiple partitions cannot be applied to a UEFI enabled BIOS system and vice versa. -
Resolution
Most new systems have the ability to change in BIOS to be legacy or UEFI. When new systems are obtained, a decision must be made about whether or not to utilize the UEFI mode or the legacy mode. Other systems, like tablets, only allow UEFI mode. If using the UEFI mode, a new image with the proper partition structure will need to be created. In most environments currently, there is likely a need for both a Legacy and UEFI enabled Base Image.

Another difference at this time (K2000 version 3.7.120251and earlier), is PXE booting UEFI enabled devices is not possible. Booting these devices requires a USB version of the KBE, formatted as Fat32/UEFI.
