Send Mail reports show incorrect data
The server log file mask was set to "syslog"
For example:
MessageStats is gathering from syslog file at 13:00 UTC time. Syslog file is currently use for logging event.
Every end of the day, syslog will get archived. When the next day MessageStats gather the syslog file, it will lost event from 13:00 to 00:00.
This will effect the accuracy of all the reports.
The most recent archived syslog file ends with .0 (that is, logfile.0), the next most recent ends with .1 (that is, logfile.1), and so forth.
By default, ten versions of old log files are kept (that is, logfile.0 through logfile.9) and logadm automatically deletes the oldest version when appropriate to keep the count of files at ten
There are tow possible resolutions to this problem
Resolution 1:
Change the server log file path to syslog.0 and configure it to gather yesterdays syslog.
Resolution 2:
Change the server log file path to syslog.*
Only tested in SendMail Version 8.11.7p2 installed on Solaris 8
