Partition sizes do not change during an upgrade of the KACE Systems Deployments Appliance (SDA). In order to take advantage of new partition sizes, it would be necessary to deploy a new virtual appliance template and migrate the current SDA to a new appliance.
Since the partition sizes do not change for every upgrade and when they do they are typically minor changes, this is not a necessary step on every upgrade.
Some of the possible symptoms which may indicate the necessity to look into partition sizes include:
Swap, TMP, and VAR partition sizes in older virtual appliance templates and ISOs are outdated and not suitable for current SDA versions.
It will be necessary to migrate the current SDA over to a new VM created with a more recent template or ISO.
Note: Please contact technical support for any assistance required in obtaining downloads which are no longer available on the downloads site. Or contact support if a Migration to a new VM is not possible at the moment. (Note: support will recommend migrating to a newer VM with an updated partition scheme, as best practice).
To verify your current partition sizes follow these steps:
- In your KACE SDA WebUI, go to Audit Log | Reports
- Open the SDA Status Overview Report (HTML)
- Look for "File System Information using Internal External\Storage"
- The current partition scheme should be printed there:
The currently recommended partition sizes in question are as follows:
After Migrating to a new Virtual Machine, and once the recommended partition sizes are in place, proceed to update to the desired version.
