Row size error when publishing a snapshot to TIC -
Description
When publishing a snapshot to Toad Intelligence Central (TIC), a row size error occurs:
"Error creating data for snapshot "xxx" data source.
Row size too large. The maximum row size for the used table type, not counting BLOBs, is 65535. This includes storage overhead, check the manual. You have to change some columns to TEXT or BLOBs" -
Cause
When Toad Data Point (TDP) publishes a snapshot to TIC, a table is created in the internal MySQL database. When the total column size of the table exceeds 65535 bytes, the issue occurs. 65535 bytes is a hard limit of MySQL. More information can be found through this link. -
Resolution
WORKAROUND
Changing some columns to TEXT or BLOBs or omitting some columns will prevent the error from occurring.
STATUS
A fix is planned for a future version of Toad Intelligence Central. -
