When attempting to run a remote migration, the migration fails with the message "error" in the Manage Agents screen. When inspecting the global log for distributed migrations, there is an error message that states "An error occurred while saving credentials in the Windows Vault for agent '[MachineName]’, where [Machinename] is the name of the agent server where a migration was run.
This issue occurs due to a restrictive GPO policy, "Network Access: Do not allow storage of passwords and credentials for network authentication." This policy prevents the migration controller server from being able to send migration information to migration agent servers and prevents migrations from being run remotely. This only affects installations where remote migration agents are deployed.
Removing the GPO policy from both the controller and agent computers will resolve the error message and allow migrations to be performed on remote agent computers. Local migrations (run from the same machine as where the Content Matrix Console is installed) are not affected.
