When trying to logon to SQL Impact, I received the following error:
SQL Net does not appear to be installed.
I understand that you no longer support SQL Impact, but this is an important tool for my project.
1. We would like to re-install SQL Impact, but we do not have the installation disk. Do you have a way for us install it?
2. If no. 1 is not possible, then what other tool do you have that has some of the capabilities that SQL Impact had?
We have discontinued SQL Impact. This was effective December 31, 2006. Customers can no longer get support on this product.
SQL Impact offered 4 major features:
1. Index Impact Analysis
This is now included in Quest Central for Oracle SQL Tuning and should be included in Toad/SQL Navigator. The integration in Toad/Nav SQL Tuning with SQL Impact is replaced with SQL Tuning's Index Impact Analysis.
2. Extraction of SQL statements from db objects
Besides extracting SQL, SQL Tuning's SQL Scanner identifies directly from the source code potential problematic SQL that needs to be tuned.
3. SQL Analyze: Checks logic problems and SQL coding best practices
This is available in Toad/SQL Navigator's Code Xpert feature.
4. Change Management
a. Impact analysis on registered programs when schema changes on the database are staged - no replacement.
b. Impact analysis on database objects (functions, procedures, etc.) when schema changes on the database are staged. - Change Director for Oracle (if you are interested in this, please send me contact information and I will send you the beta invite.
At the moment TOAD Xpert would be the best replacement product if customer wants to continue all functionality excluding change management.
