After an upgrade of Foglight was carried out, multiple Backup rules are created for rules that were edited before the upgrade. For example:
VMW Cluster Network IO
VMW Cluster Network IO (Backup)
During the upgrade procedure, the FMS has detected that some of the original rules have been modified in some way. It copies the pre-upgraded rules into the backups, before attempting to merge the updated rule contents into the old.
Assuming the FMS is working as expected, the backup rules can be deleted. However, it is best to confirm this within the rules first before carrying out any deletions.
When editing rules, particularly OOTB (out of the box) rules, it is recommended to copy the original rule, disable the original rule and edit the copied rule. Doing this should reduce the risk of seeing the problem outlined in this KB Article.
