"Server was unable to process request -> Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131904" error message (4312264)

During a migration, an error message similar to the one below is received on multiple actions:

This is a common issue caused by the SQL server on either the source or target SharePoint farm (usually the target farm). It is most often related to disk space.

Issues may be one or more of the following:

1. SQL server is running out of disk space.
2. Content database transaction log is full
3. The System Database tempdb is out of space

1. Check all the partitions on the SQL server on which the database files are stored. If they are running out of space, provision more space on the drives/partitions.
2. Shrink the target database transaction log.
   • Set the database recovery model to Simple. This is recommended for all target content databases during migrations.
     
     
      
   • Shrink the content database transaction log.
     
     
3. Perform solutions 1 and 2 for the tempdb.

Additionally, it has been found that a restart of the SQL server can also resolve this issue, but potentially short-term only.
