It is needed to move the (HDA) Help Desk Authourity database and the HDA Server installation to a different server.
Step 1:
Install the needed components on the new server (see the Help Desk Authority Installation Guide for detailed information about the System Requirements):
Step 2:
Stop all of the HDA services on the old server.
Step 3:
Click on this link: Make a full backup of the HDA Database for information on how to perform a full backup of the current HDA Database.
Step 4:
Click on this link: Restore the HDA Database on the new server for information on how to restore the previous copy of the HDA database on the new server.
Create an attachments directory on the new server, using the same name as the attachments directory located on the old server. Copy all of the attachments from the old server over to the new server. To take note of the directory, Navigate to Administration | System Options | Directories Attachments field.
Step 5:
Run the HDASetup_9.x.x.exe file and follow the wizard.
In the "Setup Type" window, select "Full" option and follow the wizard.
In the "Database Selection" window, select "Use existing Help Desk Authority database" option and click the drop down arrow to locate the database.
Uncheck the "Launch Help Desk Authority for Windows" option.
Step 6:
Click on this link: Update the HDA Configuration to update HDA Configuration Settings.
Step 7:
Update the HDAccess URL with the new server name within Administration | System Options | General | HDAccess URL field.
