What locations can a scan tool use to check for installed versions of SQL Navigator in a client computer? How to audit, query, or scan what versions of SQL Navigator is installed on a PC?
The followings Registry Keys are available to find SQL Navigator after the product is installed:
4.x & 5.0:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Quest Software\SQL Navigator\
value: Home (version may be included in the path data of this value)
5.5 & above:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Quest Software\SQL Navigator x.x.x
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Quest Software\SQL Navigator for Oracle x.x.x
In 64-bit Windows, the path then should be:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Quest Software\SQL Navigator x.x.x
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Quest Software\SQL Navigator for Oracle x.x.x
NOTE:
- SQL Navigator or Quest does not provide scan tool software.
- Be careful not to make alterations on the items mentioned if the goal is to only scan for installed versions.
