Which DB2 authentication types does the DB2 agent for Foglight support?
Is the SERVER_ENCRYPT authentication type with the DB2 agent for Foglight?
Cause
The DB2 agent provides four options to connect using SERVER, CLIENT, DATA_ENCRYPT, or SERVER_ENCRYPT authentication.
- SERVER Authentication takes place on the server.
- CLIENT Authentication takes place on the client machine (see Dealing with untrusted clients for exceptions).
- SERVER_ENCRYPT, this authentication takes place on the server however passwords are encrypted at the client machine before being sent to the server.
- DATA_ENCRYPT, this is run by the database manager. It is run after data is received from the client and before a reply is sent to the client.

Resolution

Current DB2 cartridges support the following authentication types:

DEFAULT	CLEAR_TEXT_PASSWORD_SECURITY	3
CLIENT	CLEAR_TEXT_PASSWORD_SECURITY	3
SERVER	USER_ONLY_SECURITY	4
DATA_ENCRYPT	ENCRYPTED_USER_AND_PASSWORD_SECURITY
SERVER_ENCRYPT	ENCRYPTED_USER_AND_PASSWORD_SECURITY

SERVER_ENCRYPT authentication is available in the 5.9.2.1 and higher versions of the DB2 cartridge.
