When finalizing links via Central Admin in SharePoint 2013 an error "Login Failure" is received. (4303273)

When trying to finalise links from Central Admin in SharePoint 2013 the error "Login Failure" is displayed.

You cannot finalise links from Central Admin in SP2013. This is due to the different authentication methods between the Webapp hostng Central Admin and the Web Application that is hosting the site collection.

Central Administration uses NTLM authentication whilst the Webapp hosting the Site collection uses Claims based authentication in SharePoint 2013.

To resolve this issue you must only finalise your links using the NMSP console when your target is SharePoint 2013
