The ora_chpwd results in error "can't log into Oracle as SYSTEM" and "perhaps SID is not correct" -
Description
The below errors are observed when running ora_chpwd:Please enter the SID where SharePlex is installed [OracleSID] : OracleSIDIn order to change the password for the SharePlex user account,we must connect to the database as DBA user.Enter a DBA user name : SYSTEMEnter password for the DBA account, which will not echo :connecting--This may take a few seconds.(null): can't log into Oracle as SYSTEM,/ora_chpwd: perhaps SID is not correct -
Cause
The password specified has not been appended with the tnsalias -
Resolution
When running ora_pwd in a sql*net environment, it is required to append the password with the tnsalias (or connect string) whenever entering the password for DBA user or Shareplex user.
For example:
Enter:
<password>@<connect string>
Just entering the password without appending it with connect string will result in the above mentioned error.
Starting with SharePlex 8.6.2, it is no longer required to append the password with the connect string in SQL*net environment. During running of ora_setup, SharePlex is able to gather info on connect string and is able to append the value of connect string to the password field specified by the user. Please refer to the knowledgebase article 184662 for details.
