At times the target database may be recovered after a crash. This recovery can be complete (to the most recent transaction that occurred on target) or incomplete (up to a certain point in time). This solution delves on implications on the current replication when recovering the target database.
General information.
If the target database is recovered up to the most recent transaction that occurred on it, then there is no further action required as far as Shareplex replication is concerned. Once the target database is up after recovery, the Post process of Shareplex will be able to apply changes to the target database. However, if the recovery is incomplete, then the target database may need to be resynchronized with respect to the source database. This can be done in various ways and is documented in Shareplex Administrator Guide.
The solution is applicable only when the target database is run in archivelog mode. A database cannot be recovered unless it is run in archivelog mode. Quite often the target database may not be run in archivelog mode and hence cannot be recovered, either fully or partially.
