While there are many factors that can contribute to this error, and easy check would be that the account the Mage agent is using is correctly input.
Some companies do not match SMTP domain and the Active Directory domain. If credentials are added manually in the Mage agent dialogue boxes, then this value can be incorrectly added.
Using the Browse button is always the safest way to add credentials in any aspect of the tool, but if added manually, make sure that the Active Directory Domain credentials are used, as this is what the Mage agent is using to authenticate to autodiscover.
In a case example the customer entered:
company.parent.com (the SMTP domain)
When what was required was:
companyAD.parent.com (the AD domain)
Once this was corrected, the 401 Unauthorized error was not found to be present.
