Desktop Authority relies on Active Directory. Other than deploying the Desktop Authority GPO (which simply installs the DA client), and adding SLOGIC.bat script to the users logon script, Desktop Authority does not make changes to Active Directory.
If the Domain Level is being upgraded, there shouldn’t be any changes that need to be made on the Desktop Authority side.
If there are Active Directory changes being made (Domain Name changes, OU structure, etc.), it’s recommended the option to “force group token cache to update” is enabled. In the Desktop Authority Management Console, go to GLOBAL OPTIONS | USER MANAGEMENT OPTIONS | TROUBLESHOOTING and check the option: “Force KiXtart to refresh its group token-cache during each logon attempt” to confirm that Desktop Authority can “see” all of the latest changes in Active Directory.
For Active Directory changes when adding or removing DC’s to your environment, ALL DC’s should be added (unless there is a Member Server Scenario) to the Desktop Authority Management Console’s “Server Manager” view. Generally it is recommended that all DC’s have the “Scriptlogic Service” (DA 8.x) or the “Desktop Authority Administrative Service” (DA 9.x and above) installed on each DC.
If DC’s are being demoting or removed in your environment, make sure to manually remove the Scriptlogic Service (DA 8) or Administrative Service (DA 9.x and above) and the UPDATE Service (if installed) via the Management Console. After removing the services, the DC can be removed from the Server Manager view and then demote or remove the DC from your AD environment.
When adding or promoting DC’s into your environment, add the DC to the Desktop Authority Management Console, Server Manager. Install the Scriptlogic Service (DA 8) or Administrative Service (DA 9.x and above), and install the Update Service if needed.
The UPDATE SERVICE is generally needed ONLY if the USB PORT SECURITY, ANTI-Spyware (DA 8) or PATCH MANAGEMENT add-ons have been purchased, or “Software Deployment” is used to deploy MSI packages in Desktop Authority.
Please note that Desktop Authority 8.x is no longer supported, including Patch Management and Anti-Spyware.
