Try running with then Alarm Actions disabled for a while and see if the UI stays responsive. If the UI stays responsive then try to delete the large Alarm Log files.
1. To find the folder path, in Spotlight go to Tools | Migrate Connection and on the first page at the bottom look for "Current Location" and click on the path
2. Close Spotlight and make a backup of the entire folder
3. Search all sub-folders for “Alarm.log” files
4. Delete any (or all) that are larger than say 50MB
5. Restart Spotlight and connect as normal
6. Enable Alarm Actions
