When migrating with Notes Migrator for Exchange you may receive the following error:
Error: Unable to write message body for msgId
This error message typicllay indicates one of the following:
1.) Notes Migrator was unable to migrate the RTF format of a message. The message will still be migrated. However, the RTF format will not.
2.) There are MAPI issues on the machine.
3.) When NME migrates messages with attachments, it copies the message and attachment to the %temp% folder on the NME console, the folder items may exceed the limitation of Windows.
1.) Open the Notes client and source mail box, enable the Address toolBar in Notes and enter the message ID as described in the log file I.E: notes:///C12567A7004DB575//39E7416145061405C125793C004E76AE
This will show the message and you can check for any strange content, it could be a large attachment that cannot be exported or something wrong with the formatting.
2.) If it is discovered that the issue is due to MAPI issues on the machine then the resolution should be as follows:
Either run a Repair of the Outlook installation OR "fix" the MAPI services by locating the mapisvc.inf file in one of the following directories:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\NT
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\95
To resolve this issue ensure that Outlook is installed. If Outlook is installed, make a backup copy of the existing c:\winnt\system32\mapisvc.inf. Locate and copy the mapisvc.inf file found in one of the three directories above into c:\winnt\system32, overwriting the existing file.
3.) When there is not enough space to extract the message/attachment to the temp path, or an antivirus strips the attachments the error occurs. If this is your problem, please change the %temp% path in Windows to a drive with more space, disable any active scanning antivirus then attempt the migration again.
To change the behaviour of the Notes Migrator RTF export, add the following to the Global default settings via Edit | Global Default Settings from the Notes Migrator GUI.
[Exchange] Data Migr
RewriteRTF=<#>
Type: integer. Optional. Default: 0
A single digit, 0–7, that specifies which (if any) of migrating mail, appointment
and task items the Wizard should pass through Microsoft’s rich-text converter—
which in many cases will refine the exported compound document format from
Notes’ own converter. The parameter value must be one of these digits:
0: None 4: Tasks Only
1: Mail Only 5: Mail + Tasks
2: Appts Only 6: Appts + Tasks
3: Mail + Appts 7: Mail + Appts + Tasks
This information is also found in the NME_Params_Ref.pdf, included with the installation.
