The Desktop Authority site including other ASP sites receive “The page cannot be found HTTP Error 404 – The File or directory not found”. HTML sites are able to be viewed.
The error can be associated with the message in a log file located in the C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVCx directory. Log entry:

Files or services associated with ASP.NET or ASP Roles Services may be corrupted.
Remove and reinstall the ASP.NET or ASP Role Services.
Open the Windows Server Manager and expand Roles | Web Server and locate the “Remove Roles Services” option. Uncheck ASP.NET and ASP if available. Select “Next” and complete the process by selecting “Remove”. Once the Roles have been removed, follow the same process to access the Roles Services, select ASP.NET and ASP, select “Next” and complete the process by selecting “Install”.
