Unable to open a dump file with Export File Browser (expdp). -
Description
Oracle Data Pump Exports and the TOAD Data Pump Wizard Exports, both create a .dmp file. When attempting to open one of those (Oracle 10g Data Pump export) .dmp files with the TOAD Export File Browser, the following error is displayed
"This is not a valid export file - please select another file" -
Cause
The reason is that the data pump engine generates files that are not compatible with the old import/export utilities.
This also means that the Toad Export File browser cannot be used to open or review data pump generated export files.Unless in the future, Oracle offers some type of a conversion tool that Toad could call via a GUI, a future release of Toad' s Export File Browser would highly unlikely be able to open an Oracle's Data Pump exported Dump file. -

Enhancement request CR56992 and ST116438 has been submitted to Development for consideration in a future release of Toad for Oracle. -

Additional Information
Enhancement Request CR56992 will more than likely not be applied unless Oracle releases a conversion tool or .exe. file. ST116438 requests to add more info on the Help file to mention that EXPDP is not supported as well as for Toad to give a more user friendly error message.
