For versions 5.1 and below
WORKAROUND 1:If installing Toad Data Modeler for the first time.
1. Install Toad Data Modeler 5 and do not run it.
2. Locate file Application.txd. Default path on Windows 7:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\Toad Data Modeler 5.0\Configs
3. Edit the Application.txd file and find the following tag:

and change its value to 0.
This modification will disable Check for Updates feature.
4. User Experience Feedback is turned off by default. No other tag should be modified.
WORKAROUND 2:
If upgrading or doing a re-install of Toad Data Modeler
1. Install Toad Data Modeler 4. Run the application. (After TDM is started new Application.txc file is created. The Application.txc has higher priority than Application.txd, which contains just default values).
2. Locate file Application.txc.
Its default path on Windows 7:
C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad Data Modeler\{installation name}\Configs
3. Edit the Application.txc file and find the following tags:

and set both values to 0.
This modification will disable Check for Updates and Provide User Feedback options.
STATUS:
As of version 5.2, these options can be disabled on silent installation. Please review the Silent Install instructions in the Installation Guide for further details:
