Part I - Create the Spotlight user
It is recommended that a Spotlight User be created so that all the Spotlight objects are located in one schema and can be easily located or removed if need be.
To create a Spotlight User run the wizard from "File | Oracle User Wizard" and follow the instructions from each step in the wizard. Each Oracle instance you want to monitor will require its own Spotlight user.
Part II - Create the Oracle connection
1. Go to "File | Connect" or by clicking on the power plug icon
2. In the connection column (left side), choose "Spotlight on Oracle"
3. In the center add-connection pane, click on "Add new connection"
4. Fill in a user defined connection name or let Spotlight populate it with the TNS entry when selecting the "Connection String"
5. Under "Oracle connection details" choose and fill in the following:
a. Connection String - Choose the TNS entry form the drop down
b. Oracle Username - This is the Spotlight User created in Part I
c. Oracle Password - This is the Spotlight User password sent in Part I
Part III - Creating the ASM connection
If ASM is setup and needs to be monitored, choose the "ASM Connection String" and fill in the password. If ASM doesn't need to be monitored, uncheck the "Monitor ASM" box or else, the "Connect", "Test", and "OK" button at the bottom will be grayed out and the connection setup will not be allowed to proceed.
Part IV - Creating the server connection
The main thing to point out is that the type of OS (UNIX or Windows) will need to be properly selected. An OS login is also required. If the OS doesn't need to be monitored, uncheck the "Monitor OS" box or else, the "Connect", "Test", and "OK" button at the bottom will be grayed out and the connection setup will not be allowed to proceed.
Note: If OS isn't being monitored, the CPU info will not be present when monitoring Oracle
