Unable to connect to a SQL Server instance with Change Director for SQL Server and the following error appears:
"No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it".
This usually results from trying to connect to a service that is inactive on the foreign host or one with no server application running.
Here are some suggestions:
1) Check if there is an anti virus/firewall software on either the pc or server blocking the connection
2) Does SQL Server Management Studios connect to that particular SQL Server instance?
3) Go to Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services | check if the following services are running on the monitored machine:
"Remote Registry", "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)" and "Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator".
4) Ensure the user account is under Security folder | Logins within SQL Server Management Studios.
5) Check if the Agent for SQL Server is running
