To determine the authenticating domain controller, use any of the following 4 methods:
1. After logon, open a command prompt and type SET L. It will return LOGONSERVER=\\DCNAME.
2. Click Start | Run and type %logonserver%. This will open an Explorer window to the authenticating domain controller.
3. Enable Desktop Authority’s SLtrace file logging. In the trace file, look for Logon Server = DCNAME.
4. After logon, open a command prompt and type nltest /DSGETDC: (make sure you include that : at the end), this command will return the following information:
