General
Beginning with release 4.1, Toad Data Point is now available in a 64-bit version of the application, as well as a 32-bit version. Make your selection, 32-bit or 64-bit, during installation in a 64-bit operating system.
Note: If you have an ODBC connection defined in a previous release (32-bit), you must define a 64-bit ODBC DSN to use the connection in the 64-bit version of Toad Data Point. Or you can use the 32-bit version of Toad Data Point.
Installation
Use the single Toad Data Point installer to install either the 64-bit version or the 32-bit version. If you are installing in a 64-bit operating system, the installer allows you to select which version to install. In a 64-bit environment, run the combined installer. On the Choose Installer page, select Install 64-bit Toad Data Point.
-32-bit Oracle client. You can use a 32-bit Oracle client with the 64-bit version of Toad Data Point.
-Side-by-side installation. Toad Data Point 4.1 (or later) supports side-by-side installation of versions with different bitness (architecture) as long as they are also different releases (e.g., 4.0 and 4.1) or different editions (e.g., Commercial and Beta).
For example, you could install the following side-by-side:
A 32-bit 4.1 Commercial edition and a 64-bit 4.1 Beta edition
A 32-bit 4.0 Commercial edition and a 64-bit 4.1 Commercial edition
Look Up Database Errors
Toad allows you to easily search Toad World and Toad Knowledge Base articles whenever you encounter a database error.
Use the search results to find more information about the specific database error you encountered. You can modify the search string to customize your search results or to remove object names and other internal information.
SQL Editor - Option to Disable Schema/Instance Selection
For ODBC connections, Toad now provides an option in the schema/instance drop-down list that allows you to bypass selecting a schema/instance, and instead, specify this information through the script. This is useful if your script executes SQL against multiple schemas.
Note: When this option is selected, some code completion features, object actions, and object information tool tips are unavailable for that specific SQL Editor window.
Script Environment Settings Persist
If you specify Test environment and Production environment settings in an Automation script, now when you open a new script window, the previously-specified values are automatically loaded into these fields. This is convenient when you want to use the same values repeatedly. The Email to and Root path values are retained.
