Description
Need to generate a custom report for mailboxes that will display the User's name, a total number of messages stored in the mailbox, and the size of those message for a given date range.

Resolution
To Examine the content of the messages in this Manner first run an Exchange Content and Attachment gathering against the mailbox(es) in question.
Once complete you can create a custom report from within the MessageStats Reports Console:
1. Open the MessageStats Reports Console
2. Click "File | New | Custom Report"
3. From the We Report Wizard, click the Next Button.
4. On the Datasource Screen Select the "Mailbox Content - Audit Items by Date" Datasource and click Next.
5. On the Fields screen select the following fields: "Display Name", "Item Date", "Item ID", "Size (KB)" and click Next.
6. On the Filter Screen drop down the criteria box and choose "Item Date"
7. Drop down the Predicate drop down list and choose "is between", then fill in the start and end dates to your date range, and click Next.
8. On the Group screen, move the "Display Name" field in to the "Grouped Fields" List, and click next
9. On the Sort Screen click Next.
10. On the Format Screen click "Advanced Summary Calculations..."
11. Check the "Count" box next to "Item ID", and the "Total Box", and click OK
12. Click "Finish"
13. Once the report displays on your screen you can click on "File | Save" to save the custom report to your "[My Reports]" folder for future use.
