When running installation or the upgrade, there is an error "The following software is missing" -Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI client and Collaboration data objects 1.2.1 (KB171440) or later"
Only Migration Manager for Active directory is being installed, why is Exchange package necessary?
CDO package has already been installed previously, but the error still comes up.
This can be caused by lack of, or the wrong version of Collaboration data objects 1.2.1 package on the Migration Manager console machine.
This package is needed even if Migration Manager for Exchange is not being used, as the Active Directory part also requires this for Exchange Processing tasks.
Go to add-remove porgrams, cdo package, properties and check the package name and version. Name should be "Messaging API and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1" version 6.5.8153 or later
Do the following to make sure the latest version is installed:
1) Remove cdo package from Add/Remove Programs if installed
2) uninstall Outlook from QMM console machine
3) check the %windir%\System32 folder for cdo.dll and remove if it exists
4) reboot the PC
5) download and install this package
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=e17e7f31-079a-43a9-bff2-0a110307611e&displaylang=en
at the time of writing CDO package version is 6.5.8190.0 dated 25th of October 2010
6) reboot the PC again
7) try installing Migration Manager again, by browsing the folder structure and starting \QMM\QMM.8.6.1.21.msi (msi name depends on version) directly rather than using autorun.exe and clicking install or upgrade
