Error "Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation" when trying to connect to SharePoint (4250570)

When trying to test  the connection or Migrating to SharePoint the following error is received:  "Unable to connect to 'http://servername' using SharePoint Web services due to the following error: Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation. Please check your SharePoint authentication settings in the SharePoint tab of the Options dialog. "

This is due to  a combination of incorrect SharePoint URL mapped to the IP addresses in the hosts file and/or the wrong SharePoint URL for the default zone for the Web Application for which the connectivity is tested from the Notes Migrator designer client to the SharePoint URL configured with the Notes Migrator Web Services.

This could also be caused by using the full site/site collection URL in as the address.

To resolve this try one of the following:

1. The Sharepoint URL that the Notes Migrator designer client is trying to connect should match the Alternate Access Mappings for the SharePoint URL for the default zone.

2. Remove the entry in the hosts file located at "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\" for which the IP address is mapped to the wrong SharePoint URL.

3. Shorten the URL to be just the server name. For example if it is http://servername/sites/sitecollection change it to be just http://servername.
The rest of the URL is only required when it comes to the migration job itself.
