When upgarding to a later Toad release, TOAXXX.tmp (e.g. TOAA93.tmp) files started to show up in 'My Documents' folder evertime I connect with Toad. Is there a way to stop generation of these files?

These files are building up in the temp folder and it's becoming too large.

In some cases Toad's performance is adversely affected and seems to hang periodically for about a minute before becoming accessibe again.
Resolution

Those files are safe to delete but Toad does need to generate them. Toad is expected to clear out the tmp files whe Toad is properly shut down. If it closes up abnormally it is possible the files could be left.

They are supposed to go into the following path by default:

C:\Documents and Settings\<your_user>\Local Settings\Temp

WORKAROUND:
1. Check to make sure you have read, write, execute access to "C:\Documents and Settings\<your_user>\Local Settings\Temp"
2. In Toad 10, go to View | Toad Options
3. Select General and look under "Temp File Directory"

4. Make sure that path points to "C:\Documents and Settings\<your_user>\Local Settings\Temp"

If the tmp files build up and fill up the folder, it could cause Toad to run into performance issues. In that case, clear out the tmp files and restart Toad.
