Resolution
SOLUTION 1:
If you are migrating between Toad version 9.7 and newer:
In 9.7 and newer the saved SQL statements are saved in the savedsql.dat file located in the Applicaiton Data directory, User Files folder (C:\Documents and Settings\<personal folder>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\<version>\User Files).
This file can be backed up and migrated to the new install by moving it into the User Files folder of the new Application Data directory, for the appropriate version.SOLUTION 2:
If you are migrating FROM Toad version8.5 - 9.6 TO versions 9.7 and newer:
In 9.7 and newer the saved SQL statements are saved in the savedsql.dat file located in the Applicaiton Data directory, User Files folder (C:\Documents and Settings\<personal folder>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\<version>\User Files).
In 8.5 -9.6 the saved SQL statements are saved in the savedsql.xml file located in the Toad install directory, User Files folder (C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\User Files).
This file(s) can be backed up and migrated over to another install, by moving it into the User Files folder of the new Application Data directory, for the appropriate version.
SOLUTION 3:
If you are migrating between Toad version8.5 - 9.6:
In 8.5 -9.6 the saved SQL statements are saved in the savedsql.xml file located in the Toad install directory, User Files folder (C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\User Files).
This file can be backed up and migrated over from one instll to another. Move the previous install's file into the new 9.7 install's User Files folder.*If migrating files from 8.5-9.6 to 10.x and higher, please migrate savedsql.xml into Toad for Oracle 9.7 FIRST. This will convert the file format. Toad 10.x will not do this convertion so installing 9.7 and using it to convert the savedsql.xml into savedsql.dat is required if you'd like to carry over this into into Toad 10.x and up. After migrating files into Toad 9.7 directory, launch the application, and Toad will automatically convert the file into savedsql.dat. Carry over the newly created .dat from 9.7 to the newer 10.x install that you wish to use.
SOLUTION 4:
If you are migrating FROM Toad version 8.0 and older TO versions 8.5 - 9.6:
In 8.0 and older savedSQL information was stored in the PERSSQLS.Dat and SQLS.Dat, located in the Toad install directory, and NAMEDSQL.DAT located in the Toad install directory | TEMP folder.
1. Close TOAD.
2. Open Windows Explorer and drill down to your TOAD 8.5 or newer install directory | User Files.
3. Delete the SAVEDSQL.XML file.
4. Drill down to your old TOAD 8.0 or older directory and copy the PERSSQLS.Dat and SQLS.Dat file to your TOAD 8.5+ directory.
5. Under old TOAD8.0- | Temps, copy NAMEDSQL.DAT to the new TOAD 8.5+ | User Files directory
6. Restart TOAD 8.5+ and it should automatically migrate the files, creating a new SAVEDSQL.XML file with the migrated information.
If you upgrade and install directly over the older installation, into the same directory, the files will be migrated automatically.
SOLUTION 5:
If you are migrating FROM Toad version 8.0 and older TO versions9.7 and newer:
In 8.0 and older savedSQL information was stored in the PERSSQLS.Dat and SQLS.Dat, located in the Toad install directory, and NAMEDSQL.DAT located in the Toad install directory| TEMPS folder.
1. Close TOAD
2. Open Windows Explorer and drill down to your TOAD9.6 or newer install directory | User Files folder.
3. Delete the SAVEDSQL.DAT file or rename if it has contents
4. Drill down to your old TOAD 8.0 or older directory and copy the PERSSQLS.Dat and SQLS.Dat file to your TOAD 9.6+ installation directory
5. Under Toad 9.6+ folder, create a TEMPS folder
6. Under old TOAD 8.0 | Temps folder, copy NAMEDSQL.DAT to the new TOAD9.6+ |TEMPS directory
6. Restart TOAD 9.6+ and it should automatically migrate the files, creating a new SAVEDSQL.DAT file with the migrated information.
If you upgrade and install directly over the older installation, into the same directory, the files will be migrated automatically.
SOLUTION 6:
If you are migrating between Toad versions 8.0 and older:
In 8.0 and older savedSQL information was stored in the PERSSQLS.Dat and SQLS.Dat, located in the Toad install directory, and NAMEDSQL.DAT located in the Toad install directory | TEMP folder.
These files can be backed up and migrated over to another install, by moving it into same locationsof the newinstallation directory. -
Additional Information
If you are migrating saved sql from a version prior to 9.6 to v9.6, Toad will automatically convert your savedsql.xml file to a savedsql.dat file.
If you are migrating saved sql from a version prior to 9.6 to v9.7+, Toad will not automatically convert your savedsql.xml file to savedsql.dat file. You will need to use version 9.6 to convert the .xml file to a .dat file first.
