Is it possible to connect to an Oracle database, with Toad, without having an Oracle client installed or an entry in the tnsnames.ora file?

Resolution
An Oracle client is required for all versions of Toad. However, it is possible to connect to a database whose entry is not stored in the tnsnames.ora file, using the Direct tab on the connection screen. The Direct tab is available starting in Toad 9.0. Versions 8.6 and below do not have this capability.
