How to Enable and Configure Tracking Log Compression
Resolution
Navigate to the MessageStats install directory on your MessageStats server: default is C:\Program Files\Quest Software\MessageStats for 32 bit Operating Systems and C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\MessageStats for 64 bit Operating Systems
Copy the QMSCompress.exe and QMSDeployment.exe files to the Exchange server that has the Tracking Logs you want to compress
From the Exchange server run QMSDeployment.exe
Click Next
Enter the Location of the Tracking Log share or browse to the appropriate Directory (clicking the ellipsis will show the current shared folders on the server
Use the currently logged on account for the Security Context or click the ellipsis to enter a different account
Click the Analyze Server button
If all component connections are successful, click OK
Change the compression status to Deployed by click the drop down box and selecting Deployed
Enter the start time for the compression schedule
Note: The start time should occur before any gatherings are scheduled to run on the MessageStats server
Select if you would like to Remove Orphans which are compressed files with no associated raw tracking log
Select Catchup Enabled if you would like to compress all raw tracking logs instead of just the most recent logs
Set the desired Thread Priority
Set the Logging Level to Normal. (Increased logging is generally used for trouble shooting compression issues
Click Next and review the summary of your compression options
Click Start if the options are appropriate or click Back to change the configuration options
