I am trying to import data from a tab delimited text file to a table in my database. The data file does NOT have a column of data for each column in my table. When I get to the mapping window of the import wizard, I select automap and it is not working because the columns are not lining up correctly. This seems to happen because my import file has less columns than my table does and Toad just automaps sequentially. If the columns in the file are not in the same order as the columns in the table then the automap will not work. Is there a way to automap by column header names, instead of sequentially?
WORKAROUND #1:
Use an Excel spreadsheet, instead of a text file, to import your data. You have the option to automap by matching column header names with Excel, but not text files.
WORKAROUND #2:
Manually map the columns on the text file to the table columns.
