Getting "Ora-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred" when trying to connect -
Description
When in the Connection Properties window, if I click the OK or Test Connections button, I get an "Ora-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred" error.

Resolution
RESOLUTION #1:
Check to see if you have a firewall set up that could be causing the issue. You may have added SQLplus to the firewall exception list, in which case you would need to do the same for Visual Studio.RESOLUTION #2:
Connect through the Server Explorer in Visual Studios and then try connecting in the Connection Properties window again. -
Additional Information
Toad does not put anything in the way of the connection between Visual Studio and Oracle. So if Visual Studio can’t connect, Toad cannot connect.
