SQL Server Express database has reached maximum size

The SQLEXPRESS instance continues to go offline. Reviewed and found that the database is at 10GB in size (the maximum size for SQL Express databases.

WORKAROUND 1:

The recommended workaround would be to create a new database on a Full version of SQL Express that does not have any size limitations:

1. Open the AA Console
2. Expand Auditing and Alerting and select Agents
3. Uninstall the Audit Agents from all of the DCs where they are installed
4. Open the AA Configuration Wizard
5. Click Next
6. Select Create a new Active Administrator database
7. Enter the name of the new SQL server and the database name
8. Click Next
9. Select Create a new Active Administrator Archive database
10. Enter name of the new SQL server and the database name
11. Click Next and complete the rest of the wizard

13. Open the AA Console and reinstall the Audit Agents

WORKAROUND 2:

To continue to use the SQL Express database, you will need to either archive or purge data out of it. Archiving will allow you to remove the data from the live database and store it in an archive database so you can still report on the data in the archive database. Please note, if you use SQL Express for the archive database, it will have the same 10GB size limitation. Purging will delete the data from the Live database and it will no longer be available for reporting.
